Ava’s Last Day of 5th Grade
We still do not know how Ava is finished with elementary school. It doesn’t seem possible that she finished 5th grade but here we are. We are so thankful for Paris Elementary and the wonderful school that it was for Ava. She made some great friends and memories there. She finished on the honor roll and we are so proud of how well she did during her years there. We are thankful for all of the teachers that poured into her over the years. As much as she will miss Paris, we are excited to see what God has in store for her in middle school.
Zoe’s Last Days of School
Of course, I have to compare pictures from Zoe’s last days of school. So here she is growing up too fast.

Zoe’s Last Day of Kindergarten
I truly cannot believe Zoe’s first year of elementary school is over. She absolutely loved kindergarten and had such a great year! If anyone asked Zoe what her favorite part of school was she would say learning. She really enjoyed all the experiments they did and especially loved computer lab. She is starting to get the hang of reading and sounding out words. She made some really sweet friends this year too. It was so fun to watch her grow over the year and we cannot wait to see what 1st grade holds for her.
And just for torture…here is a side by side of her first and last day of kindergarten.
5th Grade Day
Ava had an extra special awards day this year. It wasn’t just awards day, it was 5th grade day. It started with the awards ceremony where Ava received A/B honor roll plus a special recognition award for maintaining the A/B honor roll for 4th and 5th grade. After the awards ceremony, they had the 5th Grade Clap Out. All the 5th grade parents, teachers and all other students lined the halls and clapped as the 5th graders walked through all the halls. It was a bittersweet moment because it is so hard to believe she is finished with elementary school and will be leaving Paris, a school she loves so much. But, we are excited for middle school at Bob Jones next year. After the clap out, the 5th graders got to have their own version of field day with water games and chaos and fun and snow cones. They had a blast and it was a fun way to end their time at Paris.
Zoe’s Awards Day
Zoe had her first awards day this year. Her teacher created a sweet slide show of the year and read the same book she read to the kids on the first day of school about how their class is a family. Zoe’s teachers gave her the “Safety Patrol” award because they said she is always making sure everyone is being safe in whatever they are doing. The next day, the class voted on awards for each other and they gave Zoe the most likely to become a teacher award. Zoe had such a great first year of school and we are so proud of all she accomplished!
Zoe’s Beach Day
For the last month of school, Zoe’s teacher created a fun activity for each day based on the letter of the day. For “O” they had an ocean day and wore beach attire. They did their work on beach towels on the floor and made a fun beach themed snack. Zoe wore a hula skirt and a lei for her beach attire. It was a fun way for her to finish out the year.
Beauty and the Beast
Ava got to be part of a really exciting chorus event. The Paris chorus was invited by Wade Hampton High School to sing during “Be Our Guest” in their performance of “Beauty and the Beast.” Not all of the kids in chorus participated but Ava decided she wanted to give it a try and was cast as a napkin for “Be Our Guest.” The director originally planned for them to just be part of the one song but kept adding them into other parts of the play. The 5th grade girls were part of the village in the opening scene and then everyone filled the aisles with glowing roses for the transformation scene at the end. It was a lot of extra rehearsals and a lot of extra nerves but it was worth it all in the end. After the opening night, Ava was so excited and said she wants to do another play. She had such a great time backstage with her friends and really enjoyed the performance. They did three different shows and she did such a great job each time. The Wade Hampton kids did a great job. We were very impressed with the kid who played Beast. And Zoe was excited to see her friend Chloe’s big brother as Lefeu. It was so fun to watch Ava doing something she really loved. She is excited to look into more theater in middle school.
Zoe’s 1st Career Day
Zoe got to dress up for her first career day this year. She chose to dress up as an Imagineer. I made her a cast member badge and she wore her Mickey/Minnie dress with her Minnie ears. DJ kept saying to make sure we get a picture of this to show her when she does become a real Imagineer in the future. It will be fun to see what she does with her little engineer brain!
Ava’s Spring Art Market
Ava’s after school art program ended this semester with another market. She created 3 paintings to sell at the market with oil pastels. She did a great job with her paintings and presenting her brand to the group. Her art teacher does such a great job at encouraging the kids and helping them learn different techniques. Ava is excited to help volunteer there some this summer.
Ava’s Last Chorus Concert
I cannot believe we are so close to the end of the school year and are already experiencing all the “lasts” for Ava. Spiritfest and now her last chorus concert at Paris. I am not ready for her to be done with elementary school and I know she is not ready to say goodbye to Paris. Ava has such a beautiful singing voice and it is always fun to watch her sing with chorus. We are so thankful she was able to participate in chorus after it had been cancelled for so long with the pandemic. Her chorus teacher is so great and Ava really enjoyed her time in chorus.
